Balmain | FallWinter 2012

Heavy embroidery & squared shoulders are some of Balmain’s elements for this Fall. An array of color, the collection at times resembles elaborate Easter eggs with its soft pastels, ornate embellishments & royal prints. Channeling the house of Fabergé, Olivier Rousteing’s inspiration came from the bejeweled eggs, specifically the one Richard Burton gave to Elizabeth Taylor. The more subtle pieces are autonomous, possessing single colors & less detail. From black to turquoise, leather to velvet. The spotlight, however, sits on the intricate patterns on boxed frames, coated in gems. Two words: visually rich. | Giuseppe
